The exhibition theme “Stalking Theater” takes its inspiration from Hegel’s aesthetic system, in which art is the self-manifestation of Absolute Spirit in sensuous form—a dynamic reconciliation of matter and idea. The four artists in this exhibition—Wu Wei, Gao Xintong, Liu Lu, and Li Jiaqing—approach their practices through distinct media and visual languages, yet share a philosophical gaze upon “materiality.” Through dismantling, reconstructing, or alienating everyday materials, they reveal the trajectories of spiritual movement within the fissures of form—precisely echoing Hegel’s proposition that “beauty is the sensuous appearance of the Idea.”
