 Deepness with Clearing·Triple Enigmas

Dates: 2025.3.22-5.12

Lichtung (Clearing) is the opening of Being—the convergence of void and substance, light and shadow in a forest glade. “Deepness with Clearing · Triple Enigma”, as a continuation of the 2024 exhibition “Deepness with Clearing”, reveals how art opens up a field for Dasein (being-there) to manifest itself.

This exhibition extends the theory of “Clearing” (German: Lichtung) developed by the German philosopher Martin Heidegger—where “Clearing” is not merely a place of openness, but the very site in which Being is made visible. In the world of art, this clearing is not simply a matter of visibility, but a dialogue about seeing, understanding, and perception, unfolding through the interweaving of matter, signs, colour, and emotion.

“Triple Enigma”, as an extension of the concept of “Clearing,” is not only about solving puzzles but also about revelation—much like the three riddles in Puccini’s opera Turandot, where the seeker, in the very act of seeking answers, undergoes a process of self-revelation. In this exhibition, three artists—Ni Hao, Ben Post, and Ni Zhiqi—each create their own enigmas: hidden in the folds of time, drifting through the vortices of colour, and emerging at the boundary between reality and dream. The artists’ works are not merely objects to be viewed, but riddles waiting to be unveiled; the viewer becomes the solver, discovering their own answers at the intersection of perception, thought, and experience.
