Zheng Fenglin 郑丰林
Artist Biography:
Zheng Fenglin (b. 1998, Beijing) is an emerging Chinese contemporary artist. In 2017, she ranked first nationwide in the entrance examination for the School of Fine Arts at the Central Academy of Fine Arts, and graduated from the Third Studio of the Oil Painting Department at CAFA in 2021. Her practice stems from a sustained attention to the connections between everyday details and objects, attempting to reconstruct and explore a mysterious, diverse world through imagination, translating her desires and feelings into visual form. Her still lifes inherit the visual tradition of classical still-life painting while reconfiguring its order from a contemporary perspective. Through meticulous painterly brushwork, she depicts objects charged with special significance and symbolism, excavating the layered meanings embedded in signs, presenting a spiritual yearning that distances itself from reality while transcending the objects themselves. She currently lives and works in Beijing.
