Jin Jiachen 金佳辰

China, b. 1993 in Gansu · Lives and works in Japan

Artist Biography:

Jin Jiachen (b. 1993, Gansu, China),Jin Jiachen graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Oil Painting from Tianjin Normal University in 2015, and received her Master’s degree in Oil Painting and Printmaking from the Aichi Prefectural University of Fine Arts and Music in Japan in 2022. She currently lives and works in Aichi, Japan. Her practice begins with perception. Her primary media are acrylic, pastel, and cotton fabric. Through the fusion and permeation of pigment, water, and cotton, she captures images that emerge at the point of contact between soul and matter. By repeatedly entering and withdrawing from her own experience, she seeks to identify emotions that have not yet taken form. For Jin, painting is not the expression of a result, but a repeated calibration of feeling—she compares this process to muscle training. The bodies in her paintings often remain in an unidentifiable state, presenting structures in the process of becoming: weight, imbalance, tactility, and the trace of emotions moving through the body. She currently lives and works in Aichi, Japan.
