Tu Xi 涂曦

Artist Biography：

Tu Xi (b. 1982, China).Tu Xi graduated from the School of Arts at Renmin University of China in 2006, and completed the Freehand Oil Painting program at the Central Academy of Fine Arts in 2009.Tu Xi remains keenly attuned to shifts in contemporary culture and the texture of everyday life. Through the accidental effects of naturally flowing pigment and the layering of different production processes, he constructs a convergence and juxtaposition of diverse visual and cultural experiences. His works present a hybridity of multiple cultural and spatiotemporal dimensions, while unconsciously weaving together virtual and regional landscapes.Art critic Wu Hong has described him as a “scholar-type artist,” noting that his works are both subjective and historical, embodying a layering of concepts and an interpenetration of meanings that reflect intersubjectivity. He currently lives and works in Beijing.
