Artist Biography：

Lin Wenjie (b. 1986, Guangzhou, China)，Lin Wenjie graduated from the Oil Painting Department of the Central Academy of Fine Arts in Beijing in 2010, where she studied under Liu Xiaodong and Yu Hong. She received her Master’s degree from the Rouen School of Art and Design in France in 2016. She currently lives and works between Rouen, France, and Guangzhou, China.Lin’s paintings are inspired by fragments of daily life and moments that touch the heart. She is drawn to themes that merge figures with landscapes, exploring the intricate relationships between humans and nature—marked by contradiction, tension, restraint, and balance—through the lens of the traditional Chinese philosophy of “harmony between heaven and humanity.” From the perspective of an intimate observer, she watches how people respond to their surroundings and spaces, translating inexpressible feelings and states onto the canvas.The attitude toward life embraced by David Hockney has deeply influenced her; she has never shied away from conveying her optimism and sincerity through her work with honesty and simplicity. Lin’s works challenge our perception of life, inviting us to reflect on the very nature of seeing.
