Chen Guangyao 陈光耀

Artist Biography：

Chen Guangyao (b. 1996, Wenling, Zhejiang, China).Chen Guangyao is a contemporary Chinese artist. He attended the Affiliated High School of the Central Academy of Fine Arts from 2012, and was admitted to the School of Fine Arts at the Central Academy of Fine Arts through the recommendation system in 2016. He currently lives and works in Beijing.Chen’s practice centres on sculpture. He employs non-linear narrative techniques, expressing the conflict between reality and dream through a language of playful symbolism. He transforms the life experiences of individual growth into “fragmented dreams,” and through the splitting and recombination of spatial dimensions, he turns images ranging from table corners to wall surfaces into a dialogue between dream and reality under self-contemplation. His work often adopts a child’s perspective, exploring themes of growth and time through sculptural language—children peering down from walls, children tiptoeing on stacks of books to look beyond, figures rising with drawers into sleep. These images are both immersions in dreams and reflections on life.
