Blue Moment

Blue Moment

Dates: 2024.09.14-10.08

The first solo exhibition in China of Russian artist Maria Kostareva has now opened at ISM Art Space. This exhibition presents a significant phase in Maria's artistic career, showcasing her ability to capture everyday emotional moments through soft colours and delicate brushwork. The exhibition explores her subtle balance between reality and dreams, as well as her profound investigation into human emotion and visual experience.

The exhibition "Blue Moment" takes its inspiration from the French phrase "L'Heure Bleue"—the moment at twilight when day and night converge, filled with a brief, profound stillness. In Maria Kostareva's works, we see a perfect extension of this concept: through her soft palette and delicate touch, she captures those fleeting instants suspended between reality and dream. Her paintings seem to depict the transitional states of human emotion—much like the subtle shift of fading light at dusk, feelings gradually settle and surface within her work, imbued with poetry and reverie.
